Triple Play Date Weekend

Parents of small children are nothing short of experts at managing busy weekends (last weekend was a rather common double birthday party weekend!), but even I thought this one was a little over the top.  Even though it was crazy and exhausting and busy busy busy, it was well worth it.

We enjoyed three different play dates this weekend!

Shockingly, I don't have any pictures of our first get-together.  But there's a cute story to share about it. We had Vince's friend, Henry, over, along with his big sister, Charlotte, and of course his mom, Rebecca (baby brother Ben stayed home with Dad).  Rebecca and I have been talking about getting the boys together for a while, so this play date was a long time coming, but it was also scheduled with an ulterior motive.  Rebecca and I want our moms to be friends!  So we also invited over Henry's Uma (such an adorable name for a grandma) and our Bubby so they could get to know each other a little bit.

When Rebecca told Henry that they were invited for a play date, he was really excited.  Then she told him that Uma was invited too!  "What?!?" he replied with confusion.  So Rebecca told him that Uma and Vince's Bubby were going to be friends.  "Do you think Uma and Vince's Bubby will play cars with you and Vince?" she asked him.  "No," he said.  "They'll probably just drink coffee and chat."

Such a smart boy.

Anyway, the get-together was a big success and I think I can say with confidence that Uma and Bubby will most definitely be friends.

On Saturday evening, we were graciously invited to New Eli's house for dinner.  His mom, Christel, is so thoughtful and wanted us to come over for a meal since she knows how chaotic it is to move.  It was such a treat to spend time with them and have someone else plan and execute a whole lovely dinner for us!  (Just as we enjoy every Shabbat at Mom and Daddy's house!)

It was also great to go to their house since our boys are the same ages (Eli's brother, Evan, and Max will be in the same class this year!) and all seem to share the same kind of temperament.  They played really, really nicely (and independently!) together, so the adults got to enjoy some actual relaxation and conversation.

Their family will add a new baby brother in the fall, so I'm looking forward to returning their kind gesture and hosting them for a meal when their lives are chaotic!

Then on Sunday, we were really excited to have Sarah and her parents over to our house.  Sarah's mom, Susan, is one of the first non-family members that I told about the new house and I can honestly say that I think she might have been more excited about it than I was!  She is such an enthusiastic and supportive friend, so I was especially looking forward to having them over to see our new home.

Vince had a bit of a meltdown after Sarah won a round of the Memory game they were playing, so I didn't get any photos of him.  But I just mentioned in my last post that Sarah and Max really love each other, so I did get some cute shots of them.

Having lunch with a buddy is always more fun!

After they finished eating, we caught Sarah reading stories to Max.  SWOON!
To round it all out, we hosted Sunday dinner for the first time at the new house.  Auntie Anne, Uncle Brian, and Beatrice are all knocked out with a cold (get better soon, guys!) so it was just the Zander side here for an Italian feast.  And after such a busy weekend, there's nothing quite like plopping on the couch together.

It was a busy and fun weekend, but I am definitely looking forward to going to work today so I can relax!  Ha!
